What happens in the first session?

The first session is really about getting to know you.

We’ll spend some time talking about what brings you here, what you’d like to get out of counselling, and what feels most important for you right now. You’ll also have the chance to ask questions, share any concerns, and get a feel for whether this space feels comfortable and supportive for you.

Together, we’ll go over things like confidentiality, how counselling works, and what our sessions might look like moving forward. Some people come in with clear goals, while others just know they want things to feel different—that’s okay. Wherever you’re starting from, we’ll begin there.

Think of the first session as a gentle step into the process, where the focus is less on “doing therapy” and more on building a safe connection. It’s about creating a space where your story can be heard and where we can explore the path ahead together.
